Self Massage


The issues are in the tissues. Our bodies are constantly scanning our environment to determine our level of safety. This is a process called neuroception. Even when we have not experienced physical trauma, the body unconsciously works hard to help us survive the things we go through. This work results in patterns of muscle tension, constricted breathing, or even frozen fascia as an automated response to the stressful environment we live in. When we don't recognize these patterns and give the body an opportunity to soften and relax, the chronic tension can take over our physical form and cause pain or other undesirable symptoms.
